Gurnick Academy is a leading Bay Area private healthcare college offering an extensive variety of nursing and allied healthcare programs such as: Vocational Nurse, Psychiatric Technician and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN to BSN pathway) as well as Medical Assistant, Dental Assistant and Phlebotomy Technician and healthcare programs: Associate of Science in Physical Therapist Assistant, Ultrasound Technology, MRI, Radiologic Technology, and Bachelor of Science in Diagnostic Medical Imaging.
We are currently looking for a Full-Time, FieldWork Coordinator for our Associate of Science in Occupational Therapy Assistant Program at the San Jose, CA campus.
Basic Function
The FieldWork Coordinator (FWC) is an Occupational Therapist that holds a faculty (academic or clinical) appointment and has administrative, academic, service, and scholarship responsibilities consistent with the mission and philosophy of the academic program. This is a full time 12-month position. This individual demonstrates competence in clinical education, teaching, and curriculum development. In addition, the DCE’s primary responsibilities are to plan, coordinate, facilitate, administer, and monitor activities on behalf of the academic program and in coordination with academic and clinical faculty, and obtain and maintain clinical site locations, and relationships.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop, monitor, and refine the clinical education component of the curriculum
- Facilitate quality learning experiences for students during clinical education
- Evaluate students’ performance in cooperation with other faculty to determine their ability to integrate didactic and clinical learning experiences and to progress within the curriculum
- Educate students, clinical, and academic faculty about clinical education
- Select clinical learning environments that demonstrate characteristics of sound patient/client management, ethical and professional behavior, and currency with physical therapy practice
- Maximize available resources for the clinical education program
- Provide documented records and assessment of the clinical education component (includes clinical education sites, clinical educators, etc.)
- Actively engage core faculty in clinical education planning, implementation, and assessment
Requirements
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience as a site coordinator of clinical education (SCCE) and/or clinical instructor (CI), or experience in teaching curriculum development, and administration in a Physical Therapist Assistant or Physical Therapist program
- Minimum of 3 years of occupational experience as a Physical Therapist or closely related field
- Minimum 1 year experience in a supervisory capacity
- Experience in a variety of areas of teaching (academic, clinical, continuing education, in-service)
- Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist program
- Earned a minimum of a Baccalaureate Degree as a Physical Therapist, Master of Physical Therapy or Doctorate of Physical Therapy preferred.
- Licensed/registered/certified or eligible for licensure/registration/certification in California
- Able to travel, as needed to clinic facility sites.
- Able to initiate, administer, assess, and document clinical education programs.
- Earned status as an APTA Credentialed Clinical Instructor preferred.
Salary Range, Full-Time: $90,000-$100,000, DOE
